Everyone, from the front desk to the vet who diagnosed and treated my sick dog, was friendly, courteous, supportive, and efficient. The facilities are clean and non-claustrophobic. My dog immediately responded well to the staff- always a good sign. The diagnosis was spot-on and my dog is now happily back to her old self. The emergency care bill was less than I anticipated, which is always a nice plus.
I made an appt with a foster dog of mine that's 7 months old and dying of kidney failure. The thousands of dollar that this rescue would have paid them going forward is amazing to me and really what I was looking for was quality care and service for a young dog in his last year of life.
It started with the appointment and their concern with payment. I reassured them many times that the rescue would pay and if there were any issues I would pay and get reimbursed which has happened to me before.
I think coming into medical practices and having corporations take over decision making and policy is bad for my foster and bad for your pet.
This was as horrible experience. Understanding it's an emergency hospital ON a Sunday, it was still unacceptable. About 20 min after seeing the triage nurse the vet called us. About 5 minutes into the consultation the vet got called to a "critical" case. Two hours later we were still waiting, the vet came out to talk to other patients, non-critical, and completely ignored us. When we asked the reception they insisted she was caring for a critical patient until we pointed at her sitting with a woman explaining they could not find anything wrong with her dog. We had to complain yet again. Finally she came out to see us. The vet was not at all friendly or apologetic. The staff was annoyed and unfriendly. Even as they saw our dog pacing and panting nervously for 2 hours, they were not very considerate.
I ran his medical practice for 10 years and I own my own businesses. I would never want someone to feel the way I did about a medical visit. Put in a tiny exam room to stare at the wall for an hr with no communication as to when the doctor would ever come.
I went into the exam room and sat there for an hour. No one came in and said there's an emergency doctor will be in shortly or sorry for the wait or have me any status update. I sat there and thought what if he needs weekly treatments I'm going to drive and hour round trip then wait an hr each time for the doctor just to see him? What if it's another hr or longer?
I checked in for my appt 15 minutes before, filled out the paperwork and submitted. No one really said anything it was pretty sterile.
I started to think this was probably because he was a foster dog and to me he's the world I would never treat him any less. He deserves the best life I can give him. I walked out and said to the secretary I don't want to start a relationship with you like this. I have waited an hour so I'm going to leave. She immediately called the doctor and spoke. She told him what I said and then hung up and said to me "ok bye".
If you can find another option do not bring your pets there.
My bulldog Rocky was treated very well and the staff was very courteous and knowledgeable, plus Dr Corey Schmidt was very caring and did the Enucleation operation on his left eye and he doing very well
If I could give it no stars I would. Our vet referred us to these "specialists" over a month ago. They charged us $1,400 for tests which of course were all "inconclusive", put the dog on 3 different drugs and sent us on our way. We have called Dr. Palamara at least once a week since then and apparently he cannot be bothered to return our call. I would never take my pet here again.
My father has been a human primary care physician for over 40 years giving back to Westchester County residents. He's 85 and still makes house calls.
