She had a $45 pair of gold shoes that were perfect for the dress. I called about 3 weeks before the prom to see if they were still there. Laura said they were sold. Then called me back later to tell me she had found them. Hallelujah! She assured me she would hold them for me saying, "They're yours!" I told her I might not make it in for a few days and she said, "No problem, they are set aside for you!"
I was an awkward 15 year old with little courage and low self esteem looking for a "wow" factor ensemble to wear to my Sweet 16. I walked into Vintage! with no prior knowledge of the store and was greeted by Laura who explained how Vintage! works and that the mens selection wasn't abundant but I might really like it.
I spent $500.00 on a vintage dress for my daughter's prom that I was told by Laura, the owner, would need a minor repair. That repair cost another $100.00. But that's not even my complaint.
Every reference I have sent to Laura has been a successful one. If a dress wasn't found you would leave with new ideas and options you never thought of. Laura also kept you in mind and if she found something that screamed "you" would give you a call. Only if you wanted that is.
If you are in Westchester and don't stop at vintage, you're missing out. I have personally helped handfuls of girls get styled here, seen her dresses all around the county, and even seen her outfits on the red carpet in the comfort of my own home.
VINTAGE is a must shop! If you are looking for something unique, this is the place to go. You will definitely find a treasure and your friends will want to know where you bought it. You may be tempted to keep VINTAGE a secret, but don’t…..spread the word. It’s too good to keep to yourself! My picky (in a good way) daughter and I went there looking for a prom dress, we’d been everywhere else and came up empty-handed…….at VINTAGE we could have bought several glamorous and eye catching gowns. It was hard to settle on which one to buy with all the great choices, but we did finally walk away with the dress of her dreams! Kudos to the owner for being so helpful, selecting gowns she thought would be beautiful and being honest enough to say which ones were a definite “no”. You are not going to hear “that looks great” when it doesn't. She knows her stuff and it shows. I found that very refreshing and beyond rare. She is not there to “make the sale”, she is there to make you happy and beautiful on your important day! By the time we left the store was closing so we have to go back soon. Time flies when you are having fun…………..hope to see you there!
As I was led into the eccentric and fabulously decorated show room I saw dresses and gowns from haute couture to ready to wear from the 50's and onward. I was shown the mens selection and quickly found amazing vintage and retro tee shirts, button downs, biker and denim jackets, denim pants, and some pretty groovy slacks. In the back were a handful of silk and embroidered vintage smoking jackets in assorted colors... I fell in love. I had no idea how one would wear a smoking jacket to an event, Laura taught me. The way she styled me at 15 years old was awesome, she made me feel like the most important person and like I had style oozing out of my pores.
If you are looking to play dress up, Vintage! may not be the place for you. But if you take yourself, your style, fashion, and Laura seriously, Vintage! will play dress up with you and leave you loving it and wanting more!
I am now a slightly less awkward 23 year old courageous and confident young gentleman who still shops at Vintage for himself and for the women he loves seeing as it's the best... and only place, to get a stellar experience and dresses that will keep people saying "OMG did you see that DRESS!!?" for years to come.
Talk about a treasure trove! Laura has taught me everything I know about styling (which is a plus seeing as I am a stylist) and she could not have been a more sweet, talented, professional about it. She welcomes you to her store (for Prom fittings by appointment only) with a gracious and optimistic outlook. She engages you and gets you to tell her things that lead her to pick out dresses perfect for you... some you never would have known you loved.
I went AGAIN to the store on Tuesday. She greeted me with "Can I help you?" I said, "The gold shoes!" and she said, "I sold them!" I was floored. I reminded her that told me she would hold them. She said "It's prom in 2 weeks, I had to sell them". I said, "you should have called me, I was counting on those shoes", she said, "you said you'd come friday."
I was too shocked to speak, but after leaving I realized: I spent $500 in her store and she couldn't hold a $45 pair of shoes even after promising she would! That's wrong on every level. And then of course to be haughty about it and give no apology is inexcusable.
I would NEVER step foot in this store again!
If you're shopping for a vintage dress, you HAVE to stop by this store. She has everything. Each piece is completely beautiful and flawless, and Laura was a huge help in digging through the collection to find things I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. I love that I can find a dress for the same price I would pay in a department store--but it will be totally unique wherever I wear it. She also offers a layaway plans which is unlike any other store. I can't say enough good things! If you're looking for a dress, check out Vintage!
This is:
For almost 8 years now, Vintage has been my go to place to find something one of a kind, unique, and fun for various special occasions such as outfits for holiday dinners, halloween, bat mitzvahs and prom. Laura, the owner, has been nothing but wonderful throughout the years. She truly has a talent for putting together an outfit based on what an individual wants but also what would best be flattering on them. She is very dedicated to not only making the customer happy but making sure they look their absolute very best, a quality not many clothing store owners possess. Vintage is filled with other goodies too besides clothing! From jewelry, shoes, antiques, bags, scarves, books, to even fun little knick knacks. It has been a great place for me to find one of a kind gifts for my friends and family over the years. With Vintage being covered wall to wall with a wide variety of almost everything, its impossible not to want to spend hours in there looking through all the incredible treasures it holds. After one visit to Vintage I guarantee you'll be coming back for more. It truly is an amazing store with an even more amazing owner that will have you coming back time after time for all your special occasions, gift searching, and even just to go there for fun! I have had nothing but wonderful experiences and memories at Vintage and am excited for more to come considering I will be a Vintage customer for life.
I missed the Friday that I thought I could make it in, but wasn't concerned because she assured me she was holding them. But just in case I called over the weekend, knowing she was closed on Monday, I thought perhaps she could meet me at the store because we needed them for the dress fitting. She never called me back. I went there on Tuesday, the store was closed, even though it was her regular business day. I still wasn't too worried, tho', because as I said, she promised me, "They are yours!"
Shop here, say James sent you, leave with a smile and memories in the making!
A local business that behaves like that has no business here!
I came back a week or so later to pick up my smoking jacket (and a pair of rad 60's sunglasses) with a girlfriend of mine to help her find a dress for my party. That was the first dress I really saw on a client and I was blown away. To this day I wish I could buy it for every girl I know, it was that amazing.
Oh. and as for the mens selection being small... THEY UPGRADED! now a double store front there is a whole other side dedicated to those who are looking for something a little less "beaded" and a little more "rugged"
From then on I knew Vintage! was going to be my one stop shop for events. I have seen women, girls, and even some men in the store for occasions ranging from Prom to Weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs to Sweet 16s. Never have I seen a customer leave unsatisfied... unless that customer was leaving empty handed. Never fear though, if they left empty handed they would be back within the month to buy something... The store is that good.
I started shopping at VIntage! in 2007 and I will shop there until 3007. THAT is how impressed I was with Laura, her family (who work with her), and her selection of gowns/antiques.
